Tacos al Pastor – Flavorful Mexican Street Food at Home

Tacos al Pastor – Flavorful Mexican Street Food at Home

Intro / Storytelling

Hi, I’m Eman Noor, and Tacos al Pastor have always fascinated me.

During my trip to the USA, I had the chance to taste Tacos al Pastor at Brickell, a restaurant famous for its authentic Mexican flavors. I also tried delicious tacos at Wynwood Talking Tacos and Plano Talking Tacos—each place had its own special twist.

Inspired by these experiences, I decided to recreate Tacos al Pastor at home, so you can enjoy the vibrant Mexican street-food flavors in your own kitchen!”

Ingredients

. 500g pork slices

. 3 tbsp achiote paste

. 1/4 cup orange juice

. 2 tbsp vinegar

. 1 pineapple slice

. Corn tortillas

. Chopped onions and cilantro

. Salsa verde or roja (optional)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Marinate the Pork

Mix achiote paste, orange juice, and vinegar. Coat pork slices thoroughly and let them marinate for at least 2 hours (overnight for best flavor).

Step 2: Cook the Pork

Grill or pan-cook pork slices until edges are slightly crispy. Slice thinly for tacos.

Step 3: Prepare Tortillas

Warm corn tortillas on a skillet or open flame.

Step 4: Assemble Tacos

Place pork slices on each tortilla. Top with diced pineapple, chopped onions, and fresh cilantro. Add salsa if desired.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy

Serve immediately for the best taste. Pair with lime wedges for extra tang.

Tips & Variations

. Use pineapple for natural sweetness and juiciness.
